Oil-base mud microimager delivers high-definition images

Weatherford International has launched its Compact oil-base mud microimager (COI), a slim-profile tool that delivers full-bore, high-definition images in wells drilled with oil-, diesel- or synthetic-base muds. Its 4.1-in. diameter enables deployment in a wide range of geometrics, including narrow, horizontal and highly deviated wells. It features eight pads with 72 total measurement electrodes, providing optimum coverage. The COI joins the company’s Compact suite of formation evaluation measurement tools.

CENesis PHASE solution mitigates production downtime

Baker Hughes has released the CENesis PHASE solution, which helps operators avoid production interruptions in unconventional wells. Designed to separate natural gas from the oil stream before it can enter an ESP system, the solution mitigates production downtime and potential ESP performance issues, which can ultimately improve reserve recovery. It surrounds the entire ESP system in a shroud, allowing lighter natural gas to continue flowing up the wellbore, while heavier production fluid flows into the shroud and is produced through the ESP system. Additionally, an integrated recirculation system redirects fluid flow past the motor to help prevent overheating.

Wellhead outlets safely operate in stringent wellsite environments

AnTech Ltd. has launched three new wellhead outlets: Types CB, CC and CD. Each adaptation has been designed to suit various working environments, including pressures ranging from 5,000 psi to 15,000 psi, temperatures from -60°C to 160°C, and various voltages. Wellhead outlets CB and CC are focused on lower-cost applications, where a high level of specification is required. Both comply with API and NACE standards, and have been tested at the company’s usual standards. Furthermore, the CB outlet has been accredited with Type 1, Division 1 certification, allowing it to safely operate in some of the world’s most stringent wellsite environments.

App-based platform streamlines communication

A new app-based platform, FieldSavvy, enables faster, more responsive communications between operators and oilfield service companies. While it streamlines communications, its ability to capture, analyze, organize and present pertinent data, such as cost comparisons, will enable energy companies to make quicker decisions when choosing vendors and suppliers. It has been proven in reducing bid and job times. It is available for IOS and Android smartphones. The real-time records that it generates can be accessed and filtered through a desktop dashboard, then uploaded to external accounting applications, as needed.

Closed loop separator increases safety while optimizing gas separation

A U.S. patent has been awarded to Greene’s Energy Group for its closed-loop, gas buster separation system and method. The system increases safety by preventing the release of gas, on location, during well completion and intervention operations. Gas separation is optimized significantly with the addition of a 10-in. internal gas buster tube, and an 8-in. vertical vent. With the gas buster enclosed in the tank, the system can be sealed completely, is self-pressurized, safely contains all gas, and is able to securely transmit gas to the vent or flare. The closed loop separator is designed specifically for high solids applications through reduced fluids velocity.

Self-retracting lifeline reduces fatigue and increases productivity

Designed to provide greater reliability and safety in harsh environments, the Miller DuraSeal Self-Retracting Lifeline (SRL) has been introduced by Honeywell. The patent-pending, sealed technology prevents contaminants from entering the mechanism and ensures that the self-retracting lifeline’s brake system, power spring and bearings are never exposed to debris, water or chemicals. Up to 30% lighter in weight than most sealed SRLs, the DuraSeal is engineered to reduce user fatigue and increases productivity.

Unloader valve improves reliability

Zahroof Valves Inc. has launched the ZVI unloader valve. The patent-pending, piston-style unloader is designed to improve
reliability over traditional finger-style unloaders, and features a lower added clearance volume compared to plug-style unloaders. The valves have the ability to be serviced in the field, without additional machining. The actuation force required for the ZVI valve is significantly less than that required for plate-, channel- or plug-style unloaders. Additionally, it can be used in all brands of compressors, at any speed, for both lubricated and non-lubricated cylinders. It also can be used with virtually any gas, where the maximum differential pressure across the unloader is up to 1,500 psi.
