Scale and corrosion inhibitors provide long-lasting protection

U.S. Water, an integrated solutions provider for process efficiency and water treatment, has introduced ScaleGone and ScaleGone CI. The solid scale inhibitor (SI) and combined SI/corrosion inhibitor (CI) are slow-release products that provide long-lasting scale and corrosion protection for up to several years. The particles, which measure the same size as proppant, can be introduced during stimulation treatment, ensuring distribution throughout the well fracture. These inhibitors are safe to use with other stimulation products. Additionally, they can be introduced into wells already producing. The products can prevent deposition in the wellbore area, and in the tubing, as powerfully as they do at the formation face, which prevents scale and costly production problems. These products help to ensure maximum well production by preventing scale deposits, and provide extended well integrity with corrosion protection.

Water treatment system reduces footprint and investment cost

Alfa Laval has introduced PureNOx Prime, a streamlined version of its exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) engines operating with low-sulphur fuel. The water treatment system further diminishes the EGR footprint, and it has a more modular design that makes installation more flexible. The leaner design also reduces investment cost. The technology makes use of centrifugal separation, and has been tested in thousands of hours of operation at sea. Kristina Effler, business manager of Water Treatment Exhaust Gas Emissions, said, “Alfa Laval PureNOx technology has been developed in close cooperation with MAN Diesel & Turbo, and tested extensively aboard vessels from A.P. Moller-Maersk. Simply put, [it] packs the already proven PureNOx performance into a much smaller footprint.”

Inhibitor controls asphaltene deposition

Baker Hughes has released its high-performance, low-dosage FATHOM XT SUBSEA525 inhibitor, which aids in controlling asphaltene deposition in deepwater wells. It provides better flow assurance and reduces remediation costs, by minimizing the risk of blockages in production lines and equipment. The inhibitor was designed and certified for offshore applications, using a proprietary qualification protocol and a stringent laboratory evaluation method, which enable full compatibility with subsea equipment and effective performance at low treatment levels. It can be applied during initial production and throughout the life of the well. According to Baker Hughes, the low dosage rate simplifies supply logistics, reduces onsite storage and lowers handling risk.

Seismic compressors employ oil-free technology

Leobersdorfer Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co., has developed the first seismic compressors using complete oil-free technology. This environmentally friendly design reduces running costs for supplying the cylinder lubrication oil, as well as for disposal of the condensate. A rotary screw block requires far less space than that taken by other low-pressure systems. Its core components are an oil-free, double-stage screw compressor and an oil-free, balanced opposed piston compressor in a three-stage design. Both compressors are coupled directly on both shaft ends of the main driver, mounted on one common base frame, which results in a compact, rigid package. The units are available, starting with an output of 8 m3/min. to 78 m3/min. free air delivery and a pressure outlet of 138 bar.

Cementing technology helps secure well integrity

Archer has launched a new generation of its Cflex technology, the Cflex MKII-F. The technology enables high-performance, multi-stage cementing and the latest version provides the added functionality of a flexible annulus cement base. It offers enhanced cement direction control, an improved method of retaining cement, minimization of cement containment and reduced operational requirements. Hugo Idsoe, V.P. of Archer, explained, “The V0-certified product has a built-in fundament that is activated during the opening of the cement ports. This key feature helps operators secure the integrity of wells, when the formation has weak zones that prevent desired cement height.” According to Archer, Cflex performs to the highest integrity standards, and one or more casing joints give operators flexibility, reliability and far greater confidence in cementing operations.

Mooring system increases load capacity

Delmar Systems has released a high-MBL mooring system, the Delmar Subsea Connector (DSC). With new R4 grade metals, it increases load capacity by up to 2,400 kips. The new R4 DSCs are scalable, based on mooring load, and range in size from 1,510 to 6,920 kips. It is paired with traditional mooring components, such as chain, wire or synthetic rope. It is the world’s first patented, ROV-actuated connector for both temporary (MODU) and permanent mooring systems, and can be used with any type of anchor or subsea foundation.
