Marathon Oil has appointed Deanna L. Jones V.P. of Human Resources and Administrative Services, effective Jan. 27. Jones succeeds Robert L. Sovine, who retired from Marathon Oil on Jan. 1, after 33 years of service. Jones most recently served as V.P. of Human Resources and chief commercial officer for Newfield Exploration Co., in Houston. Prior to that, she held a number of senior management positions with Schlumberger, from 1993 to 2010, in that company’s Houston, London and Calgary offices. Chaparral Energy, an independent E&P company, has promoted COO and Executive V.P. K. Earl Reynolds to president and COO. The company also has promoted Associate V.P. – Corporate Reserves/GIS Richard Parma to V.P. – Corporate Reserves/GIS. Reynolds came to Chaparral after a 10-year career at Devon Energy, preceded by a series of management positions with Burlington Resources and Mobil Oil. Parma has been with Chaparral since 2009, and was promoted, effective Jan. 1, to V.P. of Corporate Reserves/GIS. Prior to joining Chaparral, Parma held management positions at Edge Petroleum Corporation, after starting his career at Texaco E&P. Tapas Kumar Sengupta has taken over as director (offshore) of Energy Maharatna ONGC, succeeding P. K. Borthakur. He worked previously in well services, for 11 years; with ONGC Videsh in Sudan, for four years; and as a general manager for Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company for four years. In the wake of constitutional reform regarding energy policy, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto and Secretary of Energy Pedro Joaquín Coldwell have appointed Dr. Lourdes Melgar Palacios undersecretary of hydrocarbons, and Dr. César Emiliano Hernández Ochoa head of the Secretariat for Electricity. Palacios had served previously as undersecretary of electricity, and held various positions within the Mexican diplomacy. Ochoa oversaw the Legal Affairs Unit of the Ministry of Energy (SENER). Enteq Upstream has appointed Andrew Bridges as head of engineering, based in west London, UK, in support of Henry More, founder of XXT, which was acquired by Enteq in May 2011. He will lead the development a new generation of high-pressure/high-temperature MWD/LWD equipment for North American and global operations. Bridges was previously technical director at Hunter Well Sciences, and chief engineer at GE Oilfield Technology. Ashtead Technology has appointed Wendy Lee as regional general manager in Singapore, and Paul Morrison as key account manager in Aberdeen. Lee has more than 16 years of industry experience, and joins the company following six years as managing director of Dominion Gas. She also worked for Petroleum GEO Services and BOC Gases, both in Singapore. Morrison has worked in technical sales for more than a decade, and comes to Ashtead from MacArtney UK. Apache Corporation has announced several changes to its executive organization, including the retirement of Roger Plank, president and chief corporate officer. Alfonso Leon, senior V.P. and chief of staff, has been appointed executive V.P. and CFO, reporting to G. Steven Farris, chairman, CEO and president. Tom Chambers will assume the new position of senior V.P., Finance. dGB Earth Sciences has appointed Arnaud Huck as chief geoscientist, where he will train up to 100 geoscientists in the company’s open-source software, OpendTect. Nine dGB geoscientists will report to Arnaud in his new role, with new training modules on pseudo-well modeling and seismic inversion. NOIA (Newfoundland & Labrador Oil & Gas Industries Association) has elected its 2014 board of directors, headed by Chair John Henley, of North Eastern Constructors Limited (NECL). Henley will served along with Vice-Chair Sean Power, of DFB Group; Treasurer Bruce Grant, of Stewart McKelvey; Past Chair Trevor Giles, of Technip Canada; and Anne Whalen (Seafair Capital), Bill Fanning (Kvaerner Canada Limited), Raymond Collins (PF Collins International Trade Solutions), Marty Gaulin (WorleyParsons Canada Services), and Doug Youden (Upstream Solutions Incorporated). The group’s newly elected members are Liam O’Shea (Atlantic Offshore Medical Services), Andrew Bell (K&D Pratt Group) and David Christmas (Schlumberger Canada). Wood Group Mustang has appointed Christopher M. Barton senior V.P., global offshore business development. Barton’s 30-plus years of industry expertise include business development, marketing and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project execution and management. His previous roles have encompassed both onshore and offshore facilities, ranging from subsea systems and fixed platforms, to deepwater floating production facilities. Pulse Structural Monitoring, an Acteon company, has appointed Mike Campbell as its new operations director. Based in the UK, he will lead the production, project management and offshore departments, and help to manage the company’s recent expansion. Previously, Campbell had been responsible for managing manufacturing, quality, health, safety and environment and supply chain for a group of companies with operations in Europe, Asia, the U.S. and Australia. Oxane Materials, a Houston-based marketer and manufacturer of Advanced Ceramic Proppant, has named Dr. Stephen Holditch as its chairman of the board of directors. Most recently, Holditch received the 2014 SPE Legends of Hydraulic Fracturing Award for his lifetime achievement in the industry. Previously, he was elected to the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and the Petroleum Engineering Academy of Distinguished Graduates. Paradigm has appointed Somesh Singh as its chief product officer. An industry software veteran, Singh will be responsible for managing all aspects of Paradigm product strategy, design and delivery, based in Houston, Texas. He has held previous roles in product teams at companies, such as NetIQ, Vignette (now OpenText), BMC Software and IBM. Most recently, Singh served as V.P. of product management and engineering at NetIQ. Prior to that role, he led R&D, customer care, professional services, training and IT as senior V.P. for R&D and technical operations at Vignette. Knight Oil Tools has named Doug Keller president of Knight Oil Tools International. In his new position, Keller will oversee Knight Oil Tools’ ongoing international business operations. The company has operations and facilities in Colombia, Norway, the UK, the Netherlands, Iraq, the Middle East and Australia. Keller has been with the company since 1988. Prior to this, he served on the executive management team for more than 10 years, most recently as the company’s executive V.P. of global strategic business development. Stewart Mitchell took over as chief executive of global offshore and mechanical handling group, Sparrows, on March 10. The announcement follows the resignation of chief executive, Doug Sedge, following more than four years with the company. Sedge will remain a board member. Stewart was previously with McDermott International. |
