David A. Hager has been appointed COO at Devon Energy. He will be responsible for all operating areas and related corporate functions. Hager has served as executive V.P., E&P, since 2009, after serving on Devon’s board of directors since 2007. In addition, he served as COO of Kerr-McGee, prior to its 2006 merger with Anadarko Petroleum. Hager has more than 30 years of oil and gas E&P experience.Additionally, Tony Vaughn has been promoted executive V.P., E&P. Vaughn will report to Hager, and will be responsible for all of Devon’s oil and natural gas exploration, drilling and production operations. Vaughn previously served as Devon’s senior V.P., exploration and strategic services. Prior to joining Devon in 1999, Vaughn spent 12 years with Kerr-McGee, most recently as manager of the Rocky Mountain district.


John Meaden has been appointed managing director for NCS Survey, an Acteon company. Meaden brings more than 30 years of experience in the offshore survey industry to his new position. Before joining NCS in September 2011, Meaden was survey manager for Subsea 7 in northern Europe, and managing director of Fugro–UDI in Aberdeen.


Kabe Exploration has added Roger A. T. Smith to its board of directors. He has more than 35 years of oil and gas drilling, completion, work over and production experience. Smith is CEO of The Sanday Corporation, which provides drilling services and advisory to oil majors.


David Brunnert has joined Express Energy Services as executive V.P. and COO. In this position, Brunnert is responsible for operations. Brunnert is based in Express’ headquarters in Houston. Prior to joining the company, Brunnert, a 20-year industry veteran, served in various operational management positions with Weatherford International from 1997 through 2013.


Jeff Shellebarger has been named president of Chevron North America Exploration and Production, effective Aug. 1, 2013. Shellebarger succeeds Gary Luquette, who will retire from Chevron after 35 years of service. Shellebarger has been managing director of Chevron’s IndoAsia Business Unit. Since joining Chevron in 1980, Shellebarger has held a variety of upstream positions in the U.S., Angola and Indonesia. In his new capacity, he will oversee Chevron’s E&P activities throughout North America, including the company’s portfolio of assets in California, the Gulf of Mexico, Pennsylvania, the Mid-Continent region of the U.S. and Canada. Luquette will stay with the company until Sept. 1, 2013, to transition his responsibilities.


Strategy Engineering & Consulting has named James Burke director of projects. Burke has more than 36 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with more than 20 of those years dedicated to project management, supervision, drafting, design and construction. He joins Strategy from WorleyParsons.


Nicholas Dale has been appointed business development manager for Southeast Asia at Claxton Engineering Services, an Acteon company. Based in Singapore, where Claxton is establishing its latest operational facility, Dale will focus on increasing the company’s penetration into the area’s market. Previously, he was general manager of Claxton Dubai, a role that involved turning a regional sales office into a fully operational, stand-alone Claxton base with a local workforce, equipment and established clients.


Greg Hebertson recently joined Midstates Petroleum as senior V.P. of Exploration. Hebertson has 20 years of global upstream experience in both technical and management roles, including multiple onshore U.S. Lower 48 basins, Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico, as well as Canada, Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Latin America. Most recently, he was V.P., Global Exploration New Ventures, for Talisman Energy. Prior to Talisman, Hebertson worked at Anadarko Petroleum for 17 years. He is a licensed geologist in the State of Texas, and is a board councilor for the AAPG’s Division of Professional Affairs.


Zahid Yoosufani has assumed the role of director and unit leader for the Petroleum Extension Service (PETEX) at The University of Texas at Austin. As director, Yoosufani provides leadership to all components of PETEX, including instructor-led training, publications and e-learning tools.


Clarence P. Cazalot, Jr., chairman, president and CEO of Marathon Oil Corporation, has elected to retire on Dec. 31, 2013, after almost 14 years leading Marathon and 41 years in the oil and gas industry. Cazalot will continue as executive chairman through Dec. 31, 2013. The board of directors has elected Lee M. Tillman as a director and to succeed Cazalot as president and CEO, effective Aug. 1, 2013. The board of directors intends to nominate Dennis H. Reilley, currently Marathon lead director, as non-executive chairman upon Cazalot’s retirement. Tillman most recently served as vice president of engineering for ExxonMobil Development Company, where he was responsible for all global engineering staff engaged in major project concept selection, front-end design and engineering. He holds degrees from Texas A&M University and Auburn University. In addition, Thomas K. Sneed, V.P. and chief information officer (CIO) for Marathon Oil, has elected to retire, effective Sept. 1, 2013, following more than 32 years of service. Bruce A. McCullough will succeed Sneed as V.P. and CIO, effective June 17, 2013. McCullough joins Marathon from Anadarko Petroleum, where he most recently served as director, Global Business Systems.


Bluestone Energy Services has added four new members, including former executives from EnerNOC and Siemens. Chris Murphy will work with Bluestone as a business development manager for the Northeast region. Prior to joining Bluestone, Murphy served as business development manager for EnerNOC. Karen Peck also joins Bluestone as a Northeast region business development manager, having been an executive at Siemens Industry previously. Mike Nevitt will be responsible for Bluestone’s Midwest region as a business development manager. A recent graduate, Jim Goddard joins Bluestone with a background in industrial engineering, and will work as a project manager.


Clayton Jones has accepted the position of business development manager for Atlas Copco Construction Equipment’s Construction Technique Service division. Jones will oversee the high-pressure compressor channel.


Subsea engineering and training company Jee has appointed Nigel Ross as its business development director. Ross, who will be based in the company’s Aberdeen office, has more than 20 years of experience in business development and sales management within the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining Jee, he worked as a business development director for Xodus. He has also held senior positions with Shell, Wood Group and Petrotechnics.


Earl Collins has been named president of Willbros Group’s Oil and Gas segment. Collins will be responsible for the development and implementation of Willbros strategy for the oil and gas markets, as well as day-to-day operations of the company’s oil and gas product and service lines. Collins joins Willbros from CH2M HILL, where he served as president and global director of the company’s EPC and Construction Operations for various markets.
