Patrick W. French, executive vice president of the state association, Texas Alliance of Energy Producers, and president of its affiliate, Foundation for Energy Education, passed away on Aug. 18, 2012, at the home of one of his brothers in Bethesda, Maryland, following a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. French served his nation in the mid-1960s with honor and distinction as a member of the U.S. Army’s 173rd Airborne Division in Vietnam. He later graduated from the University of Maryland with a major in political science and went to work for the Republican National Campaign Committee in Washington, D.C. Subsequently, Mr. French worked for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, Chicago, Dallas and California. He and his twin brother, Mike, formed the Association Development Group in Washington, where their client list included the American Gas Association and IPAA. He joined the Alliance in 2000 as senior V.P. and opened the association’s Houston office in 2003. Mr. French became president of the Alliance’s Foundation in 2006, and he was promoted to Alliance executive V.P. in 2011.


QTEC International has appointed Bill Walkingshaw general manager to oversee its continued expansion. Walkingshaw has joined the Aberdeen, Scotland-based firm to lead its growth, particularly overseas.  He comes to the company from TWMA, bringing over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas sector to the role.


OilCareers.com has named Karen Scott as the organization’s head of marketing. Scott has over 15 years’ experience gained during a highly successful career, working across a broad range of industries, with marketing roles at international organizations including Intercobra, International Paper, Mencap, Mitchell Kane Associates and Macphie of Glenbervie.


SNC-Lavalin has named Robert G. Card as its new president and CEO, and member of the board of directors. Card was selected, based on his credentials in leading engineering, construction and operations businesses internationally. He has almost 40 years of experience in operations, and management of infrastructure and energy projects in the industry, including a term with the CH2M Hill Companies Ltd. group, a Fortune 500 engineering services firm.


Tethys Petroleum Limited has named Julian Hammond as CEO and president. Hammond had been deputy CEO since February 2011, when he assumed responsibility for the day-to-day operating activities of the company.


Petro Harvester Oil & Gas has named William M. Griffin as president and CEO. Petro Harvester, founded in mid-2010, has been led by Gareth Roberts and Jim Sinclair, who helped form the business with TPG.  Griffin’s appointment completes the hiring of the senior management team.


ROMAR International has appointed Malcolm Mackenzie as general manger, with the responsibility of managing overall performance of the company’s operations, recruitment, development and financial profitability. Mackenzie was previously employed at Coates Offshore for two years, where he most recently held the position of technical support manager. Before this, he worked at M-I SWACO for nearly 13 years, where he held many positions, both in Aberdeen and overseas, with his last post being senior technical service engineer for M-I SWACO Environmental Solutions segment.


Xodus Group announced that it has retained 10 new employees to support clients of the company’s growing Houston office. Lynne Ritchie has been named lead environmental consultant; Andy Jung, lead engineer, materials & corrosion; Bernadette Johnson, principal environmental consultant; Alexander Aynbinder, senior pipeline consultant, subsea; Mustapha Abassi, senior consultant, materials & corrosion; Samay Sahoo and Realino Hidajat, both senior engineers; Kurt Lehmann, consultant subsea engineer; and Ricky Shields and Matthew Blair, corrosion technicians.


TWMA has appointed Tom Trigg as global technical advisor. Trigg will help advance improvements in oil and gas drilling waste treatment and footprint reduction. Trigg has 42 years of experience in the upstream industry.


Knight Oil Tools has promoted Barret Lemaire to director of information technology for the company. In his new position, Lemaire will oversee the company’s information technology strategy and initiatives for Knight Oil Tools’ locations worldwide. Lemaire has been with the firm for more than six years. He has held numerous positions within the company’s IT department, including systems analyst and business applications developer, where he was a co-developer of Knight Oil Tools’ KIP interactive inspection process and quality assurance program. His most recent position was network manager.


ZaZa Energy Corp. has appointed Executive Director and President Todd A. Brooks as CEO. Brooks is one of three founders of ZaZa Energy, and has served as an executive and director of the company since its combination with Toreador Resources Corp. in February 2012. Prior to ZaZa, Brooks made energy-focused investments across multiple geographic regions.


Cosalt Offshore has appointed Keith Mackie as operations director. Mackie joins the team at Cosalt Offshore with over 25 years of operations management experience, having previously held senior positions with International Paper (UK), Stats Group UK and Fisher Offshore. In his new role, Mackie will provide a central point of contact for the scheduling, management and delivery of operations.


FMC Technologies has appointed Richard Clark as its treasurer. Clark joined FMC Technologies in 1997 as a financial manager and has held financial positions of increasing responsibility since that time. He served as controller for the surface technologies and energy infrastructure businesses since 2010; controller for the subsea western region from 2003; controller for subsea in Kongsberg, Norway, from 1999; and manager of financial analysis for the energy systems group from 1997.


Devin International, a division of Greene’s Energy Group, has named Danny E. Watson as U.S. sales manager. Watson will manage the North American sales group and will be responsible for business development and overall customer relations for North America. He will also supervise the growth of current and new technologies. Watson gained extensive management experience through several appointments with Halliburton Energy Services. He joins Devin International from Boots & Coots, where he most recently served as senior business development manager.


Don Steeples, McGee Distinguished Professor of Geophysics at the University of Kansas, has been elected president-elect of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists for the 2012–2013 term of office. Steeples has long been a leader in the field of near-surface seismic research and is one of only nine people to be awarded both Life Membership (1996) and Honorary Membership (2009) by SEG. He has co-authored 25 papers in geophysics and has served on many SEG committees.


Rowan Companies has appointed J. Kevin Bartol to serve as the company’s Executive V.P., finance and corporate development. In this new role, Mr. Bartol will lead our Finance, Investor Relations and Corporate Development departments. Bartol joined the Company in 2007.
