US oil production rose by 186,000 bpd between January and February, led by a 164,000-bpd increase in Alaska. This increase is due to the reinstatement of Alaskan output after pipeline-related shut-ins in January, which caused Alaskan oil production to fall by 170,000 bpd. February also saw the startup of the Eni-operated Nikaichuq field, which will have a peak capacity of 30,000 bpd. Although Libyan and Nigerian oil production decreased by 270,000 bpd during February, global oil supply rose by 300,000 bpd to 87.44 million bpd, with the largest increases in the US and former USSR. The international rotary rig count increased by 6%, to a total of 1,911 rigs at the end of February. The international seismic crew count rose by an impressive 84 crews, to 459, in March with the largest increases in Canada, the Middle East and Europe.
