Iris Yuen has been hired by World Oil’s parent company, Gulf Publishing Company, as a Sales Representative for China and Hong Kong. She worked for seven years as an advertising representative with ACT before starting her own agency, with offices in Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Previously, she was a Sales Representative with CSL Electronic Ltd. Yuen is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English.

Red Spider Technology, a remote open-close technology specialist serving the oil and gas industry, has appointed Gary Connel as CFO. He has over 17 years of experience in the global oil and gas industry.

Baker Hughes Inc. announced the promotion of Martin Craighead to the position of President and COO. Since May 2009, Craighead has served as Senior VP and COO. During his career at Baker Hughes, he has served as President of the Drilling & Evaluation Group and as President of Baker Atlas and Inteq.

Steven H. Davis has been named Executive Director of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG). He succeeds Mary Fleming, who retired in June 2010 after serving as SEG’s Executive Director since 2002. Davis has spent his entire career with professional, science-based associations, most recently as Executive Director of the American Industrial Hygiene Association.

A. T. (Tim) Cejka, President of ExxonMobil Exploration Co. and VP of Exxon Mobil Corp., will retire after more than 34 years of service. The board of directors will appoint S. M. (Steve) Greenlee as President of ExxonMobil Exploration Co. and a VP of the corporation. Greenlee is currently President, ExxonMobil Upstream Research Co., which will elect S. N. (Sara) Ortwein as President. Ortwein is currently VP, Engineering, ExxonMobil Development Co.

The Spectrum Group has appointed Richie Miller as President of its wholly owned subsidiary Spectrum Geo Inc. in Houston. Miller has over 22 years of experience within the seismic sector. He joined Spectrum from CGGVeritas, where he held the position of Director of Marketing and Business Development.

Atwood Oceanics Inc. elected Mark L. Mey as Senior VP and CFO. From August 2005 to July 2010, Mey was Senior VP and CFO of Scorpion Offshore Ltd. Prior to joining Scorpion, he spent 12 years with Noble Corp.

BPZ Resources Inc. named Richard J. Spies as COO and Cesar Ortega as VP of Operations. Spies has over 34 years of oil and gas experience, including as President of Amoco Argentina, CEO of Pan American Energy (an Amoco joint venture) and most recently as President of BP Russia. Ortega will lead the operations team in Peru, bringing 25 years of oil and gas experience. Also, Frederic J. L. Briens has assumed the role of Chief of Strategy and Technology.
