Knight Oil Tools has promoted Pat McLaughlin to Executive VP. He will oversee Knight Oil Tools, Knight Fishing Services, Knight Well Services, Knight Manufacturing, Hub City Iron Works, Tri Drill and Robinson. McLaughlin began working for Knight in 1978, and has held various positions throughout the company. Also, Brian Sokol has been promoted to VP of Strategy and Development, Domestic and International. He has over three decades of experience in fishing services and the oil and gas industry, and was instrumental in the creation of Knight Fishing Services in 1999.

William Keefe, an energy and natural resources lawyer with decades of experience representing oil and gas companies before the Colorado and Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commissions, has joined Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P., and will be headquartered in Denver, Colo. He is known for his regulatory practices, and also advises on oil and gas transactional and title issues. In addition to Colorado and Wyoming, Keefe is licensed in California and Texas. He was previously a counsel with Paulson, Odell & Peterson, LLC.

Swellfix B.V., a specialist in swellable elastomers for zonal isolation, announced that Steve Batchelor has joined the company as President and COO for its new Houston-based Americas headquarters. Recently, Batchelor was VP of Corporate Development for Superior Energy Services, and before that he was CEO of Casetech International.

Key Energy’s Marketing Department has been restructured. Steven Oprea was named Marketing Manager in charge of advertising and consistency of the company brand. Chris Thomas continues as Graphic Specialist. Trina Prichard will support the department with regard to trade shows, and will also support the Business Development organization. Paul Comer will continue to serve as Manager of Marketing Analytics, and Becky McKinley will report to Comer and assist in analyzing data.

Jeff Huckle, senior geologist for JED Oil, has been appointed VP, Operations. He has worked with the company since its inception, and was appointed Exploration Manager during JED’s management restructuring in October 2006. Huckle has 10 years of industry experience, including work in Wyoming, North Dakota, Montana, Alberta, Saskatchewan and northern British Columbia, and in Mongolia.

IXSEA has appointed Richard Parkinson as Offshore Business Director. Parkinson, an oceanographer and surveyor, was the founder and Managing Director of UTEC Services Ltd., an offshore survey company established in 2003.

OPE, Inc., announced the appointment of Steve Craig as Senior Project Manager. Craig has over 35 years of experience in the offshore oil and gas industry, including FPSOs, FSOs, CALM systems, PLEMS, mooring and riser installations. He has held previous positions with Intec Engineering, SBM Imodco, Aker Engineering, Aker Construction and Shell.

Lufkin Industries Inc. has elected Christopher L. Boone as VP, Treasurer and CFO. Previously the company’s Corporate Controller since 1999, he has been with Lufkin for 15 years in various financial and operational positions. He succeeds Robert D. Leslie, who has retired.

Gulfsands Petroleum has appointed Andrew Rose as CFO and Director. He was previously the CFO of Burren Energy, a UK independent oil and gas company that was acquired by Eni S.p.A. in January 2008. Rose joined Burren Energy as in 2001, when it was a private company.

Nigel Hill has joined UK independent company Tullow Oil as Project and Facilities Manager for its Jubilee Field development offshore Ghana. He was previously Development Manager for BG-Egypt and the group’s Subsea Technical Authority.

ARKeX has appointed Steve Carter as its North American Sales Manager. With more than 31 years in the geoscience industry, he was previously Asset Development Manager for Speculative Surveys for WesternGeco.

Mark Metzler, President of Felderhoff Production Co. in Gainesville, Fla., was elected Chairman of the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers, the largest state oil and gas association in the nation. He has served two terms as VP of the alliance and as Chairman of its Insurance Committee.

Petrofac has expanded its presence in Norway with the opening of an office in Stavanger. Thomas Knutsen has been appointed Business Manager to lead the Norwegian operation. In addition to his considerable industry experience, he is a former dean of the Norway Business School.

Spectraseis, a provider of low-frequency geophysical solutions to the upstream oil and gas industry, has appointed Vassil Bliznakov as CFO. He has over 10 years of financial experience in the petroleum industry. Previously, he was Controller for Schlumberger’s business in Continental Europe and part of a management team responsible for 22 legal entities in 32 countries, and 1,100 employees.
