Personnel changes and promotions in the petroleum industry

BP p.l.c. appointed Andy Inglis as a managing director of the BP Group. He also succeeds Tony Hayward as chief executive of the company's E&P business. Inglis joined BP in 1980 and has held a number of posts, most recently as deputy chief executive of E&P and a member of BP's Group Executive team.

Hardide Coatings Ltd appointed Neill Ricketts as managing director. He has 18 years of operations, production and surface engineering experience. Previously, he served as managing director of Kronos Engineering Solutions.

The board of directors of Technip chose Thierry Pilenko to succeed Daniel Valot as chairman and CEO. Pilenko spent most of his career (1984�2004), within the Schlumberger Group, working in Venezuela, Italy, Gabon, Nigeria, Dubai, Indonesia, the US and France. In March 2004, he became chairman and CEO of Veritas DGC.

Norway-based AGR Group has appointed Richard Erskine as executive VP of the Petroleum Services division. He is currently managing director of the venture fund, Hydro Technology Ventures. Per Inge Remmen, who currently heads AGR Petroleum Services, will take up a new group-wide special projects role reporting to CEO Sverre Skogen. Also, Bjarte Aldal, formerly managing director of Bergen Engineering AS, was appointed chief technical officer of AGR's Drilling Services division, and Stig Andersen, country manager of KCA Deutag Drilling Norge AS, was named business development director.

International oil service company RBG Ltd announced two key appointments: director of specialist services Fraser Coull becomes technical director. He joined the company in 2005 from Wood Group Engineering. Also, Fred Chadwick has joined RBG and will succeed Coull as director of specialist Services. He was formerly with Baker Hughes ProductionQuest, Wood Group and McDermott.

Independent service contractor Production Services Network (PSN) announced that Pat Milam has joined PSN U.S. as VP of business development. He has more than 26 years of industry experience, primarily on the Gulf Coast. Most recently, Milam was VP of business development for a large Gulf of Mexico production management company.

The Minerals Management Service selected Chris Oynes as the new associate director of the agency's Offshore Minerals Management Program. Oynes has served as regional director of MMS's Gulf of Mexico Outer Continental Shelf Region for the past 13 years.

GlobalSantaFe Corp. named Blake Simmons as senior VP, Operations, with responsibility for the company's worldwide contract drilling. Simmons has served as president of the company's drilling management services subsidiary, Applied Drilling Technology Inc. (ADTI), since 2003. He will be succeeded by Steve Morrison, who currently serves as ADTI's VP of Planning and Analysis.

Paul L.Gasset 

Paul L. Gassett died Jan. 4, 2007, four days short of his 97th birthday. A 1935 mechanical engineering graduate of Oklahoma A & M College, now Oklahoma State University, he spent 42 years of his long industry career with Gulf Oil Corp. and its affiliates, and several additional years as a consultant. Specializing in deep well drilling, offshore technology and troubleshooting, he worked around the world, on every continent except Australia and Antarctica. Gassett was a long-time friend and advisor to World Oil, providing its editors invaluable assistance on many projects that could not have been completed without his knowledge and input.


Gulf Publishing Co. announces new appointments

 
Ron Higgins 

 Ron Higgins was promoted to Publisher of World Oil magazine. He was previously appointed Vice President of Sales for the magazine in October 2006, and will retain that title. He has been in the oil and gas publishing industry for over 36 years. Prior to joining Gulf Publishing Company in 2005, Higgins worked for PennWell Publishing Co. for 34 years covering most of the US and Canada for advertising sales in Oil &Gas Journal, Offshore and, most recently, the Journal of Petroleum Technology.

 

 

 

 
David Michael Cohen


David Michael Cohen
joined the staff of World Oil in January 2007. In his new position as Production Engineering Editor, he will be responsible primarily for placing and editing production engineering, as well as other technical articles in World Oil. Cohen holds a BS degree in print journalism from Texas State University-San Marcos, with coursework in mechanical engineering. His experience includes reporting assignments in the Texas capital bureau of the San Antonio Express-News and reporting and copy editing assignments at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.


 

 
Tiffany Tosh


Tiffany Tosh
has joined Gulf Publishing Co. as senior marketing director. She worked for Gulf Oil Argentina S.A. in Buenos Aires before returning to Houston to begin a career in oil and gas publishing. In January 2002, she started at PennWell Publishing, moving to Atlantic Communications in May 2004, where she served in a variety of roles, most recently as sales and marketing director, as well as director of Offshore Engineer Conferences & Events (OECE), a division of Atlantic. Tosh has a BBA in Marketing from Texas A&M University and an MBA from the University of Houston. She also received a Level Two Spanish Certification from the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina and studied art history and literature at the Santa Chiara Study Center in Italy.
