Knight Well Services, a division of Knight Oil Tools, named Bobby Crockett as general manager, where he will oversee all day-to-day operations for the division. Crockett has more than 27 years of experience in the well services business, most recently as Gulf Coast regional sales manager. Also, Randy Gibson was appointed operations manager. He will be based in the division’s new facility in Houma, La., and will oversee all operations and personnel at the facility. Gibson has been with Knight Well Services for six years, most recently as field manager. Patriot Mechanical Handling Inc. has named Charles “Pat” Patrick as VP of products and rig packages. He brings over 30 years of equipment experience. Before joining Patriot, Patrick worked for Transocean Offshore Deepwater Drilling Inc. and also served as chairman of the IADC Maintenance Committee. Kal Karmous has joined the company as VP of operations.

Kal Karmous has joined the company as VP of operations. Previously, he held various positions with Sedco Forex and GlobalSantaFe. Tim Myers has joined Patriot as VP of marketing and sales, having served previously with GlobalSantaFe. George Taggart was named VP of business development, and will direct the Global Aftersales Group. Taggart has over 20 years of experience in the rig equipment market, most recently with Maritime Hydraulics as regional manager of the Caspian Sea region.

William R. Nordwind, counsel and policy coordinator for the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet, is joining Venable LLP as a partner in its Legislative and Government Affairs Group. He has served on Capitol Hill for 15 years and was cited by the National Journal as one of the Hill’s 100 key congressional staffers in 2005. He has worked on a broad variety of issues affecting transportation, energy and commerce.

TESCO Corp. promoted Nigel Lakey to senior VP, marketing and business development. He will be responsible for the company’s strategic and corporate planning functions, including factory planning and management of global sales. Lakey has extensive experience in both drilling and completions on and offshore. He is responsible for several key acquisitions that have bolstered the company’s presence in tubular services, and he also remains business line manager for top drives.

Ability Group ASA, a Norway-based oil technology and services group, has made three key appointments. Arne Aune was appointed executive VP, mergers and acquisitions, and will also be responsible for special projects. Aune has more than 20 years of experience in the international oil and gas industry, most recently as president and CEO of Epcon Offshore AS. Erling Storaune was appointed CEO of Ability Group Inc, responsible for the group’s operations in North, South and Central America. Storaune, based in Houston, was previously president of Technip’s floater product line. Also, Ray Dafter has joined the group as director of corporate affairs, responsible for internal and external communications. Dafter is a communications specialist in the energy industry with more than 30 years of experience.

Wood Group Production Services, a part of John Wood Group PLC, has promoted Louis Gueniot to senior VP. Gueniot joined WGPS in 1990, and was appointed Louisiana Business Unit manager in January 2005. Also, Jim Justice was promoted to Louisiana Business Unit manager, succeeding Gueniot. Justice brings 28 years of experience in offshore operations and human resources, serving most recently as operation manager of WGPS’ Houma division, where he has worked since 1994. In addition, Wood Group Logging Services has hired John Smaardyk as its new technology development manager. Smaardyk has held past positions as project leader, development project engineer, and senior scientific advisor in physics in the oil and gas industry.

Richard W. FitzGerald has joined Eagle Rock Energy as senior VP and CFO. Previously, he was with NATCO Group, Inc. Also, Stephen O. McNair has joined the management team as VP of operations and technical services. McNair most recently worked for TEPPCO as VP of Natural Gas Services in Denver, Colorado. Alfredo Garcia has been named senior VP of corporate development. Garcia has been with Eagle Rock Energy as CFO since February 2004.

Microsoft’s Worldwide Oil and Gas unit has promoted John Fikany to VP of the company’s US Manufacturing Industries from his previous role as general manager for the same organization. The industry unit falls within this organization, along with automotive, aerospace, manufacturing and utilities, among others.

Oceaneering International, Inc., appointed W. Cardon Gerner as VP and chief accounting officer. Gerner’s financial career spans over 25 years. He was previously employed by Service Corporation International (SCI) and Equity Corporation International (ECI) in various management capacities.

Edward W. Blessing, managing director of Dallas-based Blessing Petroleum Group L.L.C., was appointed to the executive committee of the Foundation for Energy Education. A financial advisor to the global oil and gas industry for over three decades, Blessing has helped develop and finance petroleum projects in Switzerland, the UAE, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and North America. He is also a director of NGP Capital Resources Co.
