Before and after, in two weeks’ time.

In January 2006, the tanker Cape Bradley collided with a cargo vessel off the French coast. The whole foreship was damaged, as well as the winch equipment to a considerable extent. After docking at Lloyd-Werft, Bremerhaven, the winch fragments, which were supplied in 2004 to Hyundai Mipo Shipyard by a Norwegian company, were forwarded to HATLAPA in Uetersen/ Hamburg for renewal and replacement.

Within only two weeks, the company produced new starboard winches of their own design. The components were tested and approved by the classification society and the ship management. This required a team that operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Cape Bradley received two new roller chain stoppers, a windlass part for 70-mm stud link chain, a double-drum mooring winch with 150-kN pull and a winch gear with high-pressure hydraulic drive. WO
