In October, OPEC production rose 110,000 bopd to 30.3 million bopd. Within non-OPEC countries, Norway's production averaged 2.8 million bopd, despite a threatened lockout by the Norwegian Shipowners' Association. The rotary rig count in Canada was back on the rise in October, with an increase of almost 100 rigs, and a continuing climb to about 450 rigs into the middle of November. From September to October, most international rotary rig counts are ahead about 6%. From a year earlier, the Texas Gulf Coast increased its workover rig count by almost 31%. By the end of October, West Texas Intermediate prices spiked $7/bbl to average $53.28 but then showed a cool down during early November to average below the $50 mark. The Gas Price Index has seen its biggest bump since March of 2003, with investors pointing to numerous reasons for the spike, including the end of the US election and continuing high oil prices. |
