Installed power deliveries for two FPSOs

Diesel hydraulic driven fire fighting pumps and marine generator sets are the recent deliveries to two FPSO projects from the Netherlands-based company Fischcon Trading & Engineering B.V. Engineering, design, construction and complete unit testing was done in-house at Fischcon Works to ABS requirements.

The FPSO Mystras is owned by a joint venture comprising SBM of Monaco and Agip. It measures 271 x 55 x 23 m, with deadweight of 139,000 mt. The Mystras has a production capacity of 80,000 bpd, and a storage capacity of 1.1 MMbbl. It received first oil offshore at the Okono/ Okpoho field Nigeria for Agip in January 2004.

The FPSO Marlim Sul, owned by SBM of Monaco, has a deadweight of 278,000 mt, a production capacity of 100,000 bpd and a storage capacity of 1.6 MMbbl. It has been converted at the Keppel Shipyard in Singapore, and is ready for production for Petrobras at the Marlim Sul field offshore Brasil. First oil is expected in the spring of 2004.

Fischcon delivered for the Mystras and the Marlim Sul each, two diesel hydraulic driven fire fighting systems with a total capacity of 3,000 cu m/hr (or 50,000 l/min) at 100%, and 4,500 cu m/hr (or 75,000 l/min) at 150%. The systems comprised Rexroth Hydraulics – Nijhuis feed and main pumps driven by two 968 BkW @ 1,800 rpm Caterpillar 3508B diesel engines.

The Mystras was also provided with one 2268kVA/440V – 3516B DITA Caterpillar Essential Marine Generator set, and one 688 kVA/440V – 3412 DITA Caterpillar Emergency Generator set.

Fischcon's 4,500 sq m plant is strategically situated near the canal that connects Vianen and Rotterdam, a location that allows access and capacity to build, handle and move structures up to 20 x 12 x 8.5 m and weights to 400 mt.

Fischcon Engineering is backed by the specialized know-how and global experience of another Fischcon company, Compressor Systems Holland (CSH) B.V., which specializes in the industrial design engineering and manufacturing of custom-built and standard high-pressure pumps, and compressor and blower packages.  WO
