Oilfield services company Expro International Group appointed Mike Martindale COO. Martindale joined the group in 1995 and was appointed to the board in September 2002 as director, Eastern Hemisphere. In his new role, he combines his duties with those previously held by Graeme Coutts as director, Western Hemisphere. 

Kate H. Baker assumed the presidency of the Society of Petroleum Engineers in October 2003. A 28-year oil and gas industry veteran, Baker serves as a senior petrotechnical advisor at BP America in Houston, a position she has held since 2001. An SPE member since 1977, she was named an SPE Distinguished Member in 2001.

Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA) named former Forrester Research senior executive Emily Nagle Green its new CEO. Green served as managing director of both Forrester Research Europe and Forrester Research North America. In both positions she led the business units.

The Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) announced that John Walker, president and CEO of EnerVest Management Partners, Ltd., Houston, has been appointed chairman of the association. Also, Mike Linn, president of Linn Energy, LLC, Pittsburgh, Pa., was selected as vice chairman.

PEBERCAN appointed Cedric Sirven, as VP, chief of operations. This decision was dictated by the increased volume of operations conducted by the company in Cuba. Gilles Frachon, previously director of the company, becomes VP, finances. Both maintain their positions as directors. PEBERCAN is involved in the exploration, development and exploitation of oil reserves in Cuba. 

Chrysalis Learning, a provider of training, competence, management and documentation solutions to the oil, gas and refinery industry, has appointed Louise Ferguson managing director. Chrysalis, a division of Petrofac Facilities Management, was acquired by Petrofac in April 2003. Valand will focus on developing strategic and international opportunities for the company overseas.

BJ Process and Pipeline Services appointed Martyn Bates to regional business unit manager, USA, Mexico and Latin America. He will oversee all financial and operations management for the divisions in those regions. Bates began his career with Nowsco Industrial Services. BJ acquired that company in 1996.

China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) has appointed Fu Chengyu as chairman and CEO of the company. Fu is a board member and was CEO and president of CNOOC Ltd. Previously, he was chairman and CEO of China Oilfield Services Ltd.

BG Group appointed Stuart Fysh as executive VP and managing director, Mediterranean Basin and Africa. Fysh has been VP at BG Egypt since 2001, where he oversaw development of the company’s offshore exploration and development of Egyptian LNG. His new position will cover management of the company’s interests in Italy, Spain, Egypt and Tunisia.

Pat Bernard was named VP and general manager of Superior Field Services, a new business unit of Superior Energy Services. He has over 25 years of experience in the industry. Bernard was most recently CFO of International Snubbing Services, and before that was president and CFO of Moores Pump and Supply.
