Newly elected officers to the Offshore Energy Center’s board include: chairman of the board, Homer H. Hershey, chairman, Main Energy Corp.; vice chairman, Richard A. Pattarozzi, retired VP, Shell Offshore; vice chairman finance, Burt A. Adams, president and CEO of Oil & Gas Rental Services; operations vice chairman, Robert D. Campbell, president, Noble Drilling Corp.; secretary Peter D. Kinnear, VP and general manager, Energy Systems Group, FMC Technologies; and remaining as vice chairman of its educational outreach program, Ken R. LeSuer, retired vice chairman of Halliburton Co.

Kerr-McGee named Carol A. Schumacher senior VP, corporate affairs. This newly created position includes responsibilities for the firm’s public affairs, corporate communications, investor relations and general administration activities.

Dr. A. F. Alhajii, assistant professor of economics at Ohio Northern University and a World Oil contributing editor, was recognized as an "honorary associate" at the Center for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy at Dundee University in Scotland, effective from Jan. 1, 2002 to Dec. 31, 2004. He was recognized for his contribution to the field of energy economics.

AnTech Ltd. appointed Clair Brown development engineer with the special engineering projects department.

David Armitage, founder and former CEO of GeoGraphix, joined A2D Technologies as CEO. Dave Kotowych will continue as president and COO. Kim Boddy is executive VP. Rod Starr joined A2D Technologies as senior VP for Enterprise Solutions.

BJ Services appointed Lindsay Link country manager – Norway for the well services division – Europe & Africa region. Based in Stavanger, Norway, he will have overall responsibility for the management of the division’s Norwegian operations, focusing on coiled tubing, pumping and related well services both on and offshore.

Noble Affiliates Inc. appointed Richard A. Peneguy, Jr., VP and manager of its offshore division. Ted Price was promoted to VP, succeeding Peneguy as offshore division manager. Robert Burleson has assumed the position of VP of business administration, responsible for all marketing activities as well as human resources and administration functions

Aspect Energy, LLC, appointed Paul D. Favret, currently executive VP for exploration and new ventures for its affiliate, Aspect Resources, L.L.C., president of the parent company.

John Cramer joined TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Co. as program development manager for the Gulf of Mexico.

Spencer Armour was named as VP of Patterson-UTI. Its subsidiary, AMBAR Lone Star Fluid Services, named Ron Brazzel as president; Bonsall Wilton, VP, technology and Mark Campbell, western division VP.

Michael Duginski joined Berry Petroleum as corporate development VP.

Joseph P. Tomasik was elected VP and chief development officer of CMS Energy Corp. He will be responsible for managing the firm’s new business development activities.

Wood Group Production Services awarded Harley-Davidson motorcycles to production operators Roy Wade and Abelardo Garza at the conclusion of the firm’s 2001 Safety Incentive / Regulatory Compliance Award program. Criteria for the drawing included sustaining no lost-time, on-the-job accidents, not violating WGPS nor client safety policies and not directly causing an unauthorized spill. Employees on offshore platforms could earn bonus entries for compliance with MMS regulations on platforms they directly helped to maintain.

Canyon Offshore-Asia Pacific appointed Jerry Rowbury president of commercial manager-Asia Pacific. Based out of the Singapore facility, he will be responsible for ROV sales, marketing, business development and commercial activities in the Asia-Pacific region.

Jens Mortensen, owner and founder of Jens Oilfield Service, Inc., will continue to serve as its president and 19% shareholder following its acquisition by Allis Chalmers.

Robert E. "Bob" Wilcox will manage AMEC’s new office in Midland, Texas to provide international and environmental services.

Teledyne Instruments appointed Charles V. Fulmer general manager of Teledyne Hastings Instruments.

Larry Narrell and Loyd Roberson joined Boysenblue / Celtec International, Inc., as CAO and CEO, respectively.

Heather Victoria McQueen Hudson was named VP for Austin, Texas-based IEC Corp.

Deaths

Richard B. (Dick) Buron passed away Jan. 23, 2002 in Tyler, Texas at the age of 75. He attended C. F. Byrd High School in Shreveport, Louisiana, and served in the U.S. Army during the invasion of Okinawa. Dick graduated from Louisiana State University in 1950 with a petroleum engineering degree and spent more than 30 years working for Placid Oil Co. Dick worked in the oilfields of Snyder, Texas, and Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and ultimately became worldwide drilling manager in Placid’s Dallas office with responsibility for drilling in the North Sea, Africa and the Gulf of Mexico.
