Oil production at Sable field, offshore, is slated for first-quarter 2003. Output from reservoirs E-BD and E-CE should reach 40,000 bpd. Operated by state-firm Soekor, Sable will be developed with six subsea wells tied back to an FPSO provided by Bluewater.

Another partner in this venture is Pioneer Natural Resources, which is drilling its 2,350-m Boomslang prospect in Block 9. The firm is drilling a series of four wells that should be completed by the end of 2002. Forest Oil completed a fourth and final well in its drilling program at Ibhubeshi field. Eight of 10 targets are commercially productive for gas. Forest’s AK-I on Block 2 has recoverable reserves of 3 Tcfg. Production is slated for 2004.

Sasol will acquire additional geological and geophysical data for offshore Blocks 3A and 4A. Other developments include Vanco’s Corisco Deep Block, where the first wildcat should spud later this year. CMS drilled Estrella-1 to a depth of 10, 324 ft. It tested 6,780 bcpd and 47 MMcfgd from two intervals. Well results are being evaluated. WO
