Texaco Inc. elected John Bethancourt VP. He will continue his duties as president, production operations.

The Houston Exploration Co. appointed Charles W. Adcock senior VP-operations and engineering. Michael J. Simon joined as offshore operations manager, and Joanne C. Hresko was named onshore operations manager.

Core Laboratories named Chris Cottam VP, reservoir management. Andy Kirchin was appointed managing director of Scott Pickford’s Europe / Africa / Middle East operations.

GRI and the Institute of Gas Technology merged and have designated John F. Riordan as CEO of the new firm. Eric E. Clum was named the new regional technology transfer agent, working with the Texas Independent Producer and Royalty Owners Association in Houston.

Santa Fe Snyder named Hugh L. Boyt North America president, Timothy S. Parker was promoted to international president. Duane C. Radtke was elevated to executive VP, E&P.

A. T. (Toby) Carleton became president of the Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists. Other new officers are VP, Scott A. Wainwright; VP natural resources, Roger L. Martin and secretary, James L. Claughton.

Steve Boyer joined Computational Geology’s technical advisory council.

Tor Haugland joined Veritas Geophysical as acquisition technology VP.

The Petroleum Technology Transfer Council ratified Bob Hulse, representing the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and Barry Russell, president of the Independent Petroleum Association of America.

Calpine Corp. promoted Jacob (Jake) M. Rudisill to senior VP.

Global Marine promoted Thomas J. Morrow to president of Challenger Minerals, Inc.

Frédéric Boulet was appointed manager of new Growth Division, which will focus on identifying and anticipating market outlets for IFP research programs and managing all industrial and commercial development actions.

Weatherford International, Inc. appointed Bruce F. Longaker, Jr., and Curtis W. Huff executive VPs.

Waldemar S. Nelson and Co. Inc. named senior VP Jim Lane, as general manager of the Houston office. Stephen A. Troxler was promoted to manager of project management

Gerald M. Friedman is the recipient of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists’ Sidney Power Memorial Award, AAPG’s highest honor for 2000.

New leaders of the International Association of Geophysical Contractors (IAGC) are: Stephen J. Ludlow, vice chairman, Veritas DGC Inc., chairman; Doug Elrod, business development manager, North and South America for Schlumberger Reservoir Evaluation Seismic, vice chairman and chairman-elect. Charles F. Darden is president. Michael W. Covil is VP.
