So far, 181 oil reservoirs in 62 fields have been found, amounting to original oil-in-place of 1.2 billion bbl. Since output began in Belarus, 745 million bbl of oil and 378 Bcf of gas have been extracted. Remaining reserves in all commercial categories are 455.5 million bbl of oil and 1.24 Tcfg.

State firm Belarusneft produced 36,649 bopd during 1999, 0.5% more than in 1998. Associated gas output rose 1.6%, to 24.75 MMcfd. This year, Belarussian oil production will be about the same as in 1999. Output is expected to decline to 30,870 bopd in 2005, 25,690 bopd in 2010 and 22,305 bopd in 2015. Of Belarusneft’s 1,300 wells, just over 500 are active. The company has drawn up plans for overhauling wells and bringing them back onstream. WO
