WorldOil.com names new President and CEO

 
 

BainWorldOil.com – an information and business-to-business e-commerce portal for the oil field – named Lorne D. Bain chairman, president and CEO. WorldOil.com is also the parent of Gulf Publishing Co., which publishes World Oil magazine.

Bain, 58, is former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sanifill, Inc., a publicly traded, leading consolidator in the fragmented solid waste industry. He also served as president and director of Roy M. Huffington, Inc., and oversaw the company’s sale in 1990 to Taiwan’s Chinese Petroleum Corp. Before joining WorldOil.com, Bain was a managing director at Bellmeade Capital Partners, L.L.C.

Mr. Bain holds a B.B.A. from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, and a J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law in Austin.

Industrial Environmental Coatings Corp. named Darrell Dehart as new technical specialist.

Shell Exploration & Production Co. named David T. Lawrence as exploration and development VP and Steve H. McVeigh as production VP.

Vini Chari will head GRI Canada’s new Calgary office to offer a portfolio of technologies and services to gas producers.

Thomas M. Wadsworth was named president of T H Hill Associates, Inc.

Sondex appointed Kevin Adam North Sea manager.

Santos appointed Jon Young general manager-South Australia business unit.

Calpine Corp. promoted Dan Reyneveld to VP natural gas operations.

Paradigm Geophysical Ltd. named Steve Goldsberry to head the new Corporate Products Group. Larry Lenig, Jr. replaces him as U.S. operations president. John Wearing assumed overall responsibilities for the interpretation product suite. Duane Dopkin assumed overall responsibilities for the processing product suite.

Sandeep Khurana, a facility engineer with Paragon Engineering Services, Inc., was elected chairman of the Houston Section of the Marine Technology Society.

Babbitt Bearings promoted Bill Miller to engineering director. Dennis Treutlein became national sales manager, and Chuck Palmer is now operations manager.

Ambar Completion Fluids appointed John Sturtevant product line manager for completion fluids and filtration services. Elmer Reed became sales manager. Hoyle Granger and Robert Johnston joined as new account managers.

Deaths

Frank W. "Pat" Murphy, founder of Frank W. Murphy Mfr., died Dec. 3, 1999. Murphy graduated from Eastern Oklahoma A & M and the University of Tulsa Law School. He founded his company in 1939, establishing plants in the Tulsa area, Houston, UK and Mexico, covering nearly all industries in which engines are used. His honors include in-duction into the Eastern Oklahoma State College Alumni Hall of Fame in 1993 and recognition for his industrial contribution by the Electrical Generating Systems Association and the Irrigation Association.

Thomas E. Healy passed away at home on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000 after 22 years of dedicated service to Victaulic. Upon receiving his degree in marketing and economics from Bloomfield College, he served in the New Jersey Army National Guard for six years. He joined Victaulic in 1978 as a lines sales representative for the New York City area, and was later promoted to HVAC market manager. In 1984, he became northeast regional sales manager. Tom was a member of the New York Fire Sprinkler Contractor Association, American Society of Plumbing Engineers and an alumnus of Alpha Kappa Psi, a professional business fraternity. WO
