Rett Fisher joined American Shoreline Inc. as a computer geoscientist.

Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association elected officers for 1999–2000 are: chairman, W. J. (Zeke) Zeringue; vice chairman, Peter D. Kinnear, FMC Corp.; first VP, Dwight E. Beach, Jr., The Flexitallic Group, Inc.; treasurer, Loren Carroll, M-I L.L.C.; and secretary, Rhys Best, Lone Star Technologies, Inc.

Bob Rees joined Nova Technology Corp. as operations manager.

Robert J. Angel has been named chairman and CEO of Caltex Corp. senior VP Jock McKenzie is now COO.

Anadarko Petroleum Corp.’s Board of Directors has elected John N. Seitz to the positions of president and COO.

John Kelly became the managing director, Energy Systems and Business Analysis of the Institute of Gas Technology.

Robert W. Gee was sworn in as assistant secretary for Fossil Energy by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Steven L. Miller is president and CEO of Shell Oil Co., succeeding Jack E. Little, who is retiring. Miller also succeeds Mark Moody-Stuart as chairman of Shell’s Board of Directors.

Paradigm Geophysical Ltd. named Peter Jones president of Latin American Operations.

International Oil & Gas Inc. announced the following appointments: Carman Parente, president and CEO; Landon Ritchey, director and corporate secretary; and Michael Robinson, director.

Keith Munch was named engineering tech supervisor for EDG, Inc.

Environmental engineering and consulting firm Brown and Caldwell has appointed Stuart Oppenheim to VP.

Shirley Bridwell of Burk Royalty was awarded the North Texas Oil & Gas Association’s Mozelle C. Cherry Award for her many years of outstanding service to the oil and gas industry.

Burt Liebowitz was appointed president and COO of NetSat Express, a subsidiary of Globecomm Systems, Inc. Liebowitz succeeds Kenneth A. Miller, who has been promoted to CEO of NetSat Express.

American Association of Engineering Societies (AAES) presented four awards: Robert W. Lucky, AAES Chair’s Award; James E. Davis, Kenneth Andrew Roe Award; Winfred M. Phillips, National Engineering Award; and Norman R. Augustine, Norm Augustine Award for Outstanding Achievement in Communications.

Glenn Grimes has been named operations manager for Total Offshore Production Systems (TOPS), a joint venture between R&B Falcon and INTEC Engineering.

Dr. Charles H. Bowman, Petroleum Engineering Dept. head, has been named the inaugural holder of the $1-million endowed Robert Whiting Chair at Texas A&M University.

International visitors to the Houston Chapter of NOMADS meeting in May include: A. David Graham, Stoyerman Controls Ltd., UK; Dr. Rezkallah Moussa, Syrian Petroleum Co., Syria; and Steven Johnson and Terje Gunnered, Kvaerner Oilfield Products, Norway.

Giovanni Chiesa has been appointed VP of Sonsub International Inc.’s new Subsea Systems Engineering Dept.

Tesco Corp. appointed Mark Fischer COO, responsible for management of all the company’s operating divisions and subsidiaries.

Herb Schotel is the new technical sales engineer for Injection Services of BJ Process and Pipeline Services in Dubai.

Lucio A. Noto, chairman and CEO of Mobil will be honored in November as the 1999 Petroleum Executive of the Year. The award is decided by a group of senior oil executives from around the world.

American Association of Petroleum Geologists elected officers for 1999–2000 are: president, M. Ray Thomasson, Thomasson Partner Associates; president-elect (for 2000–01), Marlan W. Downey, University of Oklahoma; VP, Carl J. Smith, West Virginia Geological and Economic Survey; secretary, Charles R. Noll, geologist; elected editor, Neil F. Hurley, Colorado School of Mines; treasurer, Terry Hollrah, Hollrah Exploration; and chairman of the House of Delegates, John Hogg, PanCanadian Petroleum.

E. Dale Bowering has been appointed president of Veritas Exploration Services, a new division of Veritas DGC, Inc.

DEATHS

Gary Hurford, president of Hunt Oil Co. in Dallas, Texas, for the past 13 years, died at the age of 62.

Marc Philton, in charge of Marketing at CGG Petrosystems, Paris, France, died from a car accident in May 1999. WO
