HOUSTON -- With the New Technology Showcase at the forefront of a technical exposition and conference full of innovation, LAGCOE 2017 attendees are exposed to emerging technology as well as a front row seat to the next big thing.

The program on Wednesday, Oct. 25 opens with LAGCOE 2017’s “New Technology Showcase,” sponsored by Drilling Contractor, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Five companies from across the United States have been selected to present as part of the New Technology Showcase during LAGCOE 2017:

  • Louisiana CAT -- Product Health Connect® Panel
  • Ulterra Drilling Technologies -- PDC drill bit cutting structure: CounterForce
  • Frank’s International -- Combination Drillpipe/Casing Spider & Elevator
  • HydraLIFT -- Rod string lifting device
  • Expro -- 30,000 psi perforating and drill stem test tool package

New for LAGCOE 2017, the Louisiana Energy Research and Development Forum will present a global view of state of the art energy technology research and development efforts using a formal presentation format. Within the forum, all forms of energy (petroleum & alternative energy) will be of great interest to the attendees and presenters. Participants will come from universities, industry, investors, and government entities (speakers and attendees from the U.S. and many other countries will be attending). The forum will feature more than 50 technical presentations from energy experts from all over the globe.

The VERTECH Green Energy Conference will be embedded within the alternative energy component of the Louisiana Energy Research and Development Forum during October 25 & 26. The VERTECH conference is in its fifth year of organization.  It is an initiative of the SESAME Network, which is an international association of medium-sized cities developing local and regional government exchanges and business opportunities. With their key players in economic, industrial and institutional sectors, these cities share their sustainability vision, ideas and projects. Past meetings were held in Canada, Belgium, and the US.

On Thursday, Oct. 26, the LAGCOE Student Paper Competition will bring university students majoring in energy related fields from around the US together to present their research work on energy systems. An expert judging panel will evaluate their presentations and award first through third cash prizes. This competition allows future energy experts to present innovative concepts that will improve the global energy markets. The competition also allows energy experts at LAGCOE 2017 to gain new insight into developing technologies that can greatly assist the energy industry. It also provides a great forum for technical discussions.
