The rising complexity of deepwater drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, including water depths of more than 10,000 feet and true well depths of more than 40,000 feet, has led to a need for improvements to existing materials and structures to withstand more extreme environments. At lower depths casing strings are subject to greater formation pressure and higher temperatures, increasing the risk of casing wear in excess of allowable limits. That’s why Tenaris has developed the Hydril Wedge 624, a premium connection technology designed for improved casing wear performance, even in the most severe deepwater and high-pressure applications.

The Tenaris Hydril Wedge 624 is an improved version of the Wedge 623 connection design with greater resistance to wear. It can accommodate more Tool Joint ID wear while maintaining connection performance as validated through combined load testing. Thanks to its simultaneous engagement of opposing flanks of the dovetail thread it offers exceptional torque capability and compression efficiency.
