World Oil Awards Nomination Form (scroll down for category descriptions)

For Achievements 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010

Please use this online form to submit nominations for the 2010 World Oil Awards.

Rules for submissions:


  • NO FEE for making a nomination, and companies and individuals can self-nominate. Nominations can only be submitted in one category or they will be disqualified.
  • The nomination must include a CD or flash drive with at least one high-resolution photo (in a 300-dpi digital format or a Vector .EPS format) of the nominated technology, individual or program. Also, include your Company logo (in a Vector .EPS format).
  • The award judges reserve the right to reclassify a nomination to another category.
  • Supplemental information can be provided via one copy in printed form on three-hole punched paper, accompanied by a hard copy of the online nomination form. 
  • Multiple submissions ARE ALLOWED; however, only one nomination per submission will be accepted and materials will not be returned. 
  • All nominations and supplements must be submitted by July 16, 2010. Because of editorial deadlines, there will be NO EXTENSIONS.
  • Nominations must pertain to commercial efforts and activities during the period of July 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010. By submitting a nomination, you are confirming the accuracy and appropriateness of the nomination.
  • Finalists will be alerted by the end of August of their status. Each finalist will be invited to the Finalists’ Reception in mid-September. Recipients of the World Oil Awards will be announced at the event’s gala dinner on October 14, 2010.

Best Completion Technology Award
Recognizing the leading completions solution that provided a substantial impact on the industry through an innovative and reliable commercial application.


Best Data Management & Application Solution Award
Spotlighting a viable workflow solution or technology focused on storage, delivery or management processes that provided tangible results for an operator or a service company.


Best Deepwater Technology Award (NEW!)
Selecting the best innovative technology in the area of drilling completions and production in deepwater applications.


Best Drilling Technology Award
Honoring an innovator who executed an industry-leading effort that had a significant impact on oil and gas operations through drilling innovation, either onshore or offshore.


Best Drilling, Completion & Production Fluids Award
Identifying an innovative fluid, or a fluid-related mechanism or process, that was commercially introduced to help drill or complete oil and gas wells, or to improve production.


Best Exploration Technology Award
Naming the top acquisition (such as a seismic, electromagnetic, geochemistry or remote-sensing) or processing/interpretation technology or method that was introduced during this past year.


Best Outreach Program Award
Spotlighting the program that has done the best job of teaching the general community—and especially the younger generation—about the value of the oil and gas industry.


Best Production Technology Award
Acknowledging a newly introduced production program, solution or fluid that allowed an operator to effectively manage and maximize production.


Best Visualization & Collaboration Award
(formerly Best Data Application/Visualization) This award recognizes the data visualization, storage, software or manipulation solution that shows the greatest promise in enabling operators to achieve to create a real-time collaborative environment a step-change in operating efficiency and mark the new way of doing business.


Best Well Intervention Award
Highlighting a new well intervention technology that has helped make significant improvements in terms of saving time, reducing costs or improving production. New technologies in this area are important because routine well maintenance represents one of the largest expenditures over the life of a well.


Health, Safety, Environment/Sustainable Development Award - sponsored by Superior Well Services
Acknowledging a company that has made significant strides in protecting and enhancing the environment and communities where it operates. The recipient of this award has implemented a program—through technical innovations, implementation of new standards and processes, or an introduction of social and economic development efforts—that has made a marked improvement in a health, safety, environment/sustainable development endeavor.


Innovative Thinker Award
Recognizing a leader in the upstream oil and gas sector who has been an inspirational industry champion, not only in terms of achievements, but also through his or her demonstrations of vision and innovative thinking.


New Horizons Idea Award - sponsored by Halliburton
Celebrating a company with a game-changing product, technology or idea that symbolizes how the industry will operate in the future. This company serves as a guidepost for the next generation of leadership entering today’s upstream energy sector.


Next Generation Award
Honoring an individual under the age of 35 who is delivering new technology to the energy industry and is exhibiting the next generation’s ability to find solutions to the increasing complexities in hydrocarbon exploration, drilling and production. Nominations will be judged on innovation, commercial application of the new technology, and its impact on the industry.
