Apache resumes Varanus Island gas deliveries
Apache Corp. has formally concluded a force majeure and resumed gas deliveries from a previously disabled pipeline at its Varanus Island development in Western Australia.
A June 3, 2008 pipeline explosion and fire interrupted the operator’s gas deliveries, prompting the imposition of the force majeure, a legal clause that allows a company to miss deliveries because of circumstances beyond its control.
The operator said production is now at a point at which Apache is able to meet its contractual obligations and added the Varanus Island repair project is now in its final 'draw down' phase.
