HOUSTON – TMK IPSCO, an industry leader in seamless and welded oil country tubular goods (OCTG) and premium connections, held an open house to inaugurate its 70,000-sq-ft R&D Center in northwest Houston. Guests at the open house included Texas state and Houston city officials.

At a press conference during the inauguration, TMK IPSCO Chairman Piotr Galitzine announced that TMK IPSCO’s North American headquarters would move to Houston. A new building will be constructed adjacent to the R&D center to office about 100 corporate employees, Galitzine said.

Capabilities of the R&D center includes a scanning electron microscope, chemical and microstructure analysis, corrosion testing for sour service applications, both static and dynamic compression and tension testing, and 1,000- and 2,000-ton load frames for any combination of compression, external and internal pressure, and tension and bending tests.
