Shell sees production at Iraq Majnoon Greenfield project within 2 to 3 months

BY SELINA WILLIAMS

THE HAGUE -- Shell aims to start production from a Greenfield project in Iraq' s Majnoon oil field within the next two to three months, CFO Simon Henry said.

The ramp up in output from the field was delayed while Shell resolved operational and legislative issues relating to the project such as cost recovery and importing equipment, Mr Henry said.

It' s the first Greenfield project and it' s taken some time to generate not just operational capability but also the legislative capability that goes with it he told reporters after the company' s annual general meeting. He said that total output from Majnoon was expected to reach 175 Mbopd by the end of the year.
