Shell: Still unable to estimate restart for Eugene Island pipeline system
BY ANGEL GONZALEZ
HOUSTON -- Shell said that repair crews have arrived at the site of a small leak that shut down the Eugene Island pipeline system in the United States Gulf of Mexico, but it's still too early to estimate when operations might restart. "At this time, we are unable to speculate on an estimated re-start of the Eugene Island Pipeline System," spokeswoman Kimberly Windon said in an email.
Repair crews arrived on site after rough weather conditions moderated, and they are determining the appropriate repair method for the pipeline. "Crews hope to complete their assessment as soon as possible, weather permitting," Ms. Windon said. Shell estimates that about 38,000 bpd of production in the United States Gulf of being shut in.
