Russian troops attack pirates, free oil tanker hostages
Russian troops freed all the hostages aboard an oil tanker captured by Somalia pirates off the coast of Yemen.
BBC said the oil tanker company Novoship Moscow University of Russia arrested the pirates in Gulf of Aden. The tanker was carrying 80,000 tons of crude oil valued at approximately $50 million and was traveling to China.
Russian troops aboard the Marshal Shaposhnikov warship rescued 23 crew members on the tanker.
“All crew members on board are alive and in good health condition. In more than 20 hours during the siege, the bandits did not catch them,” Reuters quoted spokesman Novoship.
