Rosneft to pay $180 million for 12 Arctic shelf licenses

MOSCOW--Russian state-owned oil giant Rosneft will pay about $179.8 million for 12 exploration licenses on the Arctic shelf, Russian regulator Rosnedra said on its website.

Russian allows only state-controlled companies--among them Rosneft and Gazprom -- to hold offshore licenses.
