Rosneft to buy Alrosa gas assets for $1.38 billion
BY JAMES MARSON
MOSCOW -- Rosneft signed a deal to acquire the gas assets of diamond miner Alrosa for $1.38 billion as it aims to become a major player in the Russian gas market.
The CEO of the two companies signed the deal, which will increase Rosneft's recoverable gas reserves by 200 Bcm, Rosneft said in a statement.
Rosneft became the world's largest listed crude oil producer after buying TNK-BP in March from BP and its partners, a group of Soviet born tycoons, in deals worth some $60 billion.
