Rosneft CEO to offer BP partnership on Barents Sea blocks
MOSCOW -- Rosneft will shortly offer Arctic hydrocarbon projects to BP, which owns almost 20% of Rosneft, said Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin, according to Prime news agency.
We intend in the near future to draft documents and will offer our partners at BP to look at blocks in the Barents Sea Mr. Sechin was quoted as saying. "I believe that the Barents Sea is the most prospective zone for work with BP."
BP has a 19.8% stake in Rosneft, which it received as part of the Russian giant's takeover of TNK BP from BP and its partners.
BP's first attempt to form an Arctic exploration alliance with Rosneft in 2011 was thwarted by its partners in TNK BP, a group of Soviet born tycoons.
