Proserv unveils global R&D subsea technology hub
ABERDEEN -- International production technology services company Proserv has officially launched a global R&D hub in Norway to design subsea controls and communications technologies.
This hub is an addition to Proserv’s international support infrastructure for its subsea production systems business. The company also has a subsea systems test and assembly facility in Aberdeenshire, and a subsea controls systems design and manufacture facility in Great Yarmouth.
This state-of-the-art R&D facility at Trondheim, Norway, represents a significant investment for the company and features a 500-sq m advanced electronics workshop, a technology showroom for demonstrations and 1,100 sq m of office space for 50 new offices.
The new facility, located in Norway’s co-called “capital of technology,” will serve as a global hub for Proserv’s subsea communications and controls R&D activities.
The Trondheim team developed Proserv’s Seahawk in-situ video surveillance system, used for environmental monitoring, including retrofit on brownfield subsea installations. The technology can be installed on a subsea Christmas tree or manifold to provide visual monitoring of potential leakages.
