Petrochina Chairman: Still discussing natural gas supply deal with Russia

BY WAYNE MA

BEIJING -- Petrochina is still discussing a natural gas supply deal with Russia, though talks haven't touched on prices yet, said the company's chairman Jiang Jiemin.

Russia and China have been negotiating for years on whether to build two pipelines to deliver gas from East Siberia to China, but the projects haven't progressed due to disagreements between the two over the price of the gas. Speaking on the sidelines of China's annual legislative National People's Congress, Mr. Jiang said his company is still studying investments in the U.S. He added Cnooc' CEO purchase of Canada's Nexen has no impact on his company's U.S. investment prospects.
