Petrobras hits pre-salt oil output of 300,000 bopd

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Petrobras said that it boosted production from the pre-salt oil fields to 300,000 bopd. The Brazilian operator reached the record output from the offshore oil fields February 20, the company said in a regulatory filing.
According to Petrobras, the production milestone of 300,000 bopd comes seven years after the oil province was discovered. That compares favorably with similar finds in the United States portion of the Gulf of Mexico, where that level of production took 17 years to reach, as well as other discoveries in Brazil's offshore Campos basin, which took 11 years to reach a comparable level of output, Petrobras said.
For the full month of February, the average daily output was 281,000 bopd, more than double the level produced a year earlier, Petrobras said.
