Ophir Energy completes drilling of Pweza-2 well in Tanzania

LONDON -- Ophir Energy, a Africa focused, oil and gas resource company, posted the completion of the Pweza-2 appraisal well in Block 4, Tanzania.

Well intersected 20 m of net pay with excellent reservoir quality which was confirmed to be in pressure communication with Pweza-1.

Result has firmed up resource estimates for the Pweza field which stand at 1.7 Tcf of gross recoverable resource.

Deepsea Metro I drillship has now moved to the Pweza-3 drilling location.

Pweza-3 is designed to further appraise the Pweza field, including the collection of cores and a Drill Stem Test.

Activities are expected to be completed in early October.

Ophir holds 40% of Blocks 1, 3 and 4; BG Group operates with 60%.
