STAVANGER -- OMV said its subsidiary OMV Norge has signed six new offshore exploration licenses in Norway, where it now has a total of 23 offshore licenses.

OMV will act as operator on two of the licenses aimed at exploring for gas resources in the deep water area of the Voring Basin in the northern part of the Norwegian Sea.

OMV is a 20% partner on the other four licenses, which are for the Barents Sea off the coast of Northern Norway.
