North Sea Buzzard oil field ramping up production

BY CASSIE WERBER

LONDON -- The UK's largest oil field, Buzzard in the North Sea, which has seen a cut in volumes for maintenance work, is ramping back up according to traders.

The field can produce 200,000 bopd at capacity. It has been producing lower volumes since Feb. 28 when maintenance work began, and reached a low of around 80,000 bpd, according to a trader.

A Geneva-based trader said that it may have reached 180,000 bpd but couldn't confirm the amount.

Nexen, the field operator, didn't immediately respond to requests for a clarification on volumes.
