New plant coincides with V&M Star 10 year anniversary within Vallourec

HOUSTON -- V&M Star, a Vallourec group subsidiary, announced it successfully pierced the 1st shell from its new state of the art plant in Youngstown, Ohio, on June 29, 2012. Joel Mastervich, President, declared: “This is a noteworthy milestone in the ramp up of our new FQM mill. This positive step gets us closer to bringing the facility on line. The piercing occurred at the same time we celebrated the 10th anniversary of our company joining the Vallourec Group in July 2002.”

The new plant will produce up to 500,000MT of seamless pipe in sizes 2 3/8” to 7”, destined to the booming shale oil and gas exploitation market in North America. It will complement the existing adjacent steel plant and rolling mill that currently manufactures premium quality OCTG and line pipe in sizes 5” to 10 ¾”. The integrated site located in Youngstown, Ohio, will also provide heat treatment, VAM premium threading lines, storage, and other services, creating around 350 new direct jobs.
