NPD grants drilling permit for Lundin wildcat well in southern North Sea
STAVANGER -- The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has granted Lundin Norway a drilling permit for well 8/5-1. Well 8/5-1 will be drilled from the Maersk Guardian drilling facility at position 57°33’43.83’’north and 3°34’49.67” east.
The drilling program for well 8/5-1 relates to drilling of a wildcat well in production licence 453 S. Lundin Norway is the operator with an ownership interest of 35%. The licensees are Noreco Norway with 25%, Det norske oljeselskap with 25% and VNG Norge with 15%. Production licence 453 S was awarded in 2007.
The area in this production licence is located in the southern part of the North Sea and consists of parts of blocks 8/4,5,7,8,9,11 and 12. Well 8/5-1 is the first exploration well in this production licence. The permit is contingent upon the operator securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities before commencing drilling activities.
