STAVANGER – The first ONS Norway conference got off to an energetic start with the inauguration by the Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry, Trond Giske.
This is the first of an off-year conference focusing on local opportunities. The ONS Foundation will continue to host the traditional ONS, which has more of a global outlook in alternate years, with the next one taking place August 19-21, 2014.
“The ONS Norway conference has surpassed our expectations as the meeting place for opportunities for the Norwegian continental shelf,” said Leif Johan Sevland, President and CEO of the ONS Foundation.
Early on Monday, the delegate count was at 3,500. “We expect the three-day attendance to go over 17, 000,” said John Are Rortveit, Vice President for marketing and information for the ONS Foundation.
The first day of panels included a session on new projects for the next 1-3 years by representatives of Statoil, Kvaerner and Seadrill.
In the opening session, Espen Norheim , Senior Manager with Ernst & Young, presented facts and figures showing how new discoveries and EOR projects will keep the Norwegian continental shelf active until 2055.
In the afternoon a panel discussion by representatives from FMC Technologies, Halliburton Scandinavia and Aker Solutions covered opportunities for the supplier industry and provided practical guidance for positioning a vendor for new supplier contracts.
The ONS Norway conference continues until Wednesday, August 21, 2013.
