Multraship confirms order for two new Damen ASD 2810 tugs

THE NETHERLANDS -- Towage and salvage company Multraship has confirmed that it has bought two new Damen ASD 2810-type tugs with advanced FiFi 1 fire fighting capabilities as part of its fleet renewal efforts. The tugs, to be named Multratug 26 and Multratug 27, are being built in Romania for delivery in June or July 2013.

The tugs will primarily engage in towage activities near the Zeeland and Antwerp areas, but will be ready on standby to respond to any fire or explosion emergencies on the River Scheldt.

The tugs will have a minimum bollard pull of 62.5 t and a maximum speed of 13.5 knots. They are being built at Damen Shipyards in Galati, Romania, where Multraship has a representative office and provides towage and salvage services to the Black Sea area.
