  • Calgary's GPS exudes size and technical substance

    Staff Report

Every two years, Calgary, Alberta, sets the stage for one of the world’s largest oil and gas events, the Global Petroleum Show (GPS). Formerly the National Petroleum Show, the 2000 version of this event attracted more than 60,000 industry professionals from 88 countries. Due to its growing global scope, the name has been changed in time for the 2002 event, to be held June 11 – 13. GPS will act as a showcase for world-class technology in the fields of exploration, drilling, production and transportation of oil and natural gas. Historically held in the second week of June, the show has garnered enough of a worldwide audience for the city’s mayor to declare that the seven days be deemed "Petroleum Week."
