Maersk Gallant to drill two wells near Ekofisk

STAVANGER, Norway -- Statoil Petroleum has received consent for exploration drilling using the Maersk Gallant mobile drilling facility to drill wells 2/4-22 S and 2/4-22 A in production licence 146.

The wells are in the southern part of the North Sea, 15 km north of the Ekofisk field and around 260 km from the nearest land at Lista. Water depth at the site is approximately 67 m.

The position during drilling will be:

56° 42' 58.12" N
03° 10' 03.11" E

Drilling is planned to begin in June/July 2014, with a duration of around 189 days, depending on whether a discovery is made.

Maersk Gallant is a jack-up drilling facility, built at Far East Levingston Shipbuilding (FELS) in Singapore in 1993. The facility is operated by Maersk Contractors Norge. It received Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in August 2002.
