News from IPAA 2012 annual meeting: IPAA gives Chief Roughneck Award to Noble’s Chuck Davidson

NEW ORLEANS -- During IPAA’s membership luncheon, Noble Energy Chairman and CEO Charles D. (Chuck) Davidson was named the association’s “Chief Roughneck” for 2012.

Sponsored by U.S. Steel Tubular Products, the Chief Roughneck award has been presented every year since 1955. The award “is a lifetime achievement recognition, honoring an individual whose accomplishments and character best represent the highest ideals of the oil and gas industry.”

Davidson joins 57 other members of the Chief Roughneck Hall of Fame. Luminaries in that group represent a veritable who’s who of the industry, including such former winners as Arch Rowan, Dave True, H. L. Hunt, Hugh Liedtke, Robert O. Anderson, Dean McGee, Chester Upham, George Mitchell, Gene Ames, Jr., George Alcorn, Larry Nichols, Robert Allison, Jr., Ray Hunt, Mark Papa, John Walker, Diemer True, Harold Korell, Aubrey McClendon and Michael Linn.
