Hertz Rental Car Company goes solar
It’s hard to know which rental car company to feel best about these days. Enterprise is adding hybrids to their fleets, planting trees through Arbor Day and building its WeCar car share program on college campuses. Avis is renting Priuses and Smart fortwos. Hertz too has added hybrids, including the Prius and the Camry models.
And, the car rental company with the “Number 1? club also is upping the green ante by installing a series of solar panels at several facilities.
The latest installation was just finished at Commerce City, Colo., and Hertz reports that it is the first car rental company in the U.S. to go solar.
Additional installations will continue at Hertz Equipment Rental Car locations in Harrisburg, Pa.,; Newark, N.J.; Tuscon, Ariz.; Augusta, Bogart and Norcross, Ga.; Boston and Baltimore.
All told, installations are planned at 16 Hertz facilities in Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
