OTC ' 14: GE to supply gas engines to power HH Group shale drilling rigs in China
HOUSTON – HH (Honghua) Group, the largest exporter of drilling rigs in China, has signed a three-year memorandum of understanding with GE Power & Water’s Distributed Power business. Under the agreement, GE will supply its Waukesha VHP gas engines to power drilling rigs used in new shale gas projects in China.
The HH Group will demonstrate multiple solutions for bi-fuel motors, land drilling, shale gas exploration and offshore platform construction at the 2014 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston.
HH will particularly highlight its new partnership with GE as well as solutions for land and offshore drilling, including the 1500HP Beyond Drilling Rig and the TIGER Series. Also displayed in the booth will be the company’s solutions for shale gas and offshore platform construction. Built on its own research and development, HH’s products allow for improved safety and efficiency, while reducing risks and costs during land and offshore drilling.
“HH offers more than 650 units of all kinds of drilling rigs to customers, and around 80 percent of them are sold to markets outside of China in the past seven years. The U.S. continues to be one of the most important markets for us,” said Zhang Mi, chairman and president of HH. “We are showcasing the TIGER Series at OTC, as it responds to our customers’ need for affordable, easy-to-use offshore drilling platform.”
Headquartered in Chengdu, Sichuan, HH is the largest exporter of drilling rigs in China and one of the largest land drilling rig manufacturers in the world.
