Eni, PetroVietnam ink study pact for energy exploration
BY VU TRONG KHANH
HANOI -- Eni has signed a joint technical study agreement with PetroVietnam, as it seeks to expand its presence in the Southeast Asian nation, PetroVietnam said. The agreement, signed in Hanoi, will pave the way for joint exploration for coal bed methane, shale oil and gas in Vietnam, PetroVietnam said in a statement.
PetroVietnam said in January that Eni will likely start exploratory drilling in a block offshore Vietnam in June this year, adding that Eni has been awarded rights to participate in blocks 114, 120 and 105-110/04 offshore Vietnam. In January, the two companies also signed an agreement to cooperate in oil and gas exploration and production projects in Vietnam and other countries, including Venezuela and Mozambique.
