Drydocks World to build jackups for Malta Oil & Gas
DUBAI -- Drydocks World has signed an agreement with Malta Oil & Gas Ltd. to build two new jackup rigs based on Gusto MSC’s CJ54-X135-A design.
The agreement was signed by His Excellency Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World & Maritime World, and Paul Robert Thomson of Malta Oil & Gas Ltd.
The rigs will have dimensions of 76 m by 76 m and a leg length of 180.6 m; they are intended for operation in water depths of up to 450 ft. The rigs consists of a triangular shaped hull with three open truss legs, rack and pinion type elevating systems and leg-to-hull fixation systems.
The rigs will be capable of drilling HPHT wells. They will be equipped with permanent accommodation for 150 people, a helideck suitable for the use of a S61N or S92 helicopter and a retractable X-Y type cantilever carrying the drilling derrick.
