Det Norske Oljeselskap: Small oil find in Norwegian North Sea

BY DOMINIC CHOPPING

TRONDHEIM -- Det Norske Oljeselskap, a 20% partner in production licence PL265 in the Norwegian North Sea, has reported a small oil discovery.

The exploration well 16/2-18S was drilled on the Cliffhanger North prospect west of the main bounding fault for the Johan Sverdrup discovery.

An oil zone of 15 m with poor production characteristics was proven and no oil water contact was established. The oil is not in communication with the Johan Sverdrup discovery.

Det Norske holds a 20% ownership interest in PL265. Statoil is the operator with 40%, with partners Petoro 30% interest and Lundin 10% interest.
