Cougar Drilling Solutions adopts Paradigm's Sysdrill software
AMSTERDAM -- Paradigm announced that Cougar Drilling Solutions (CDS) has adopted Sysdrill software as its preferred solution for well planning and drilling engineering, supporting its entry into the North American directional drilling services market. The company recently used Sysdrill to successfully plan and engineer its initial directional wells in Texas and Oklahoma.
CDS drilled a 5,000 ft. 8 3/4” curve and horizontal section in only 18 days – 27 days less than a previous well, significantly reducing drilling costs. In another well, CDS drilled a 7 7/8” directional section in a single run, accumulating over 200 circulating hours minimizing non-productive time.
“By using Sysdrill to perform detailed up-front engineering analysis we are able to deliver considerable cost savings to our customers,” said Andrej Rizen, director of Optimized Well Delivery at Cougar Drilling Solutions. “Our entrance into the North American market has produced successful drilling results based upon the accuracy of the Sysdrill solution and the reliability of our Cougar DS high performance motors. This combination has helped us reduce costs, minimize non-productive time and optimize well placement.”
“For some time now, Paradigm has focused on incorporating new well planning functionality aimed at the onshore North America oil and gas market,” said Robert Innes, director for Well Planning & Drilling at Paradigm. “We are pleased by the drilling performance that CDS has already achieved from using Sysdrill, and this further validates the accuracy of our modeling capabilities. Paradigm also congratulates CDS on its successful entry into North America.”
